Cross Border Safety Seminar
Every year, the APTA Safety Council and the Maine Motor Transport
Association gather members for a two-day seminar to discuss safety
issues and concerns from both borders.
Commercial Vehicle Safety Wheel Service Training
A one-day training program to teach service personnel the risks to
improper installation and how to spot defective components.
Time is spent on how to properly prepare wheels for installation
and the correct tightening procedures and full knowledge of wheel
manufacturer recommended procedures for torque checks and
preventative maintenance.
New Modules are now in place for 2011 and the APTA will be hosting
numerous sessions throughout the year.

Course Content:
- National Safety Code: point system, how violations affect your
company, intervention levels
- SafeStat/CSA 2010: what you should know and the impact on your
company
- Hours of Service: Canadian and US regulations
- Standard 13 (Daily Vehicle Inspection): will be coming into
effect in the Atlantic Provinces in the near future... are you
prepared?
Transportation of Dangerous Goods - Instructor
course
The "Train-the-Trainer" course provides employees with the skills,
techniques and knowledge to teach the Transportation of Dangerous
Goods course in-house. Adult education and learning
techniques are discussed, as the TDG Regulations.
Participants will receive the most recent edition of "Transporting
Dangerous Goods by Truck" handbook published by the Canadian
Trucking Alliance (CTA), as well as materials for their own
presentations.
